Indonesian launches

Our fourth live language — and thanks to Bahasa Indonesia and Bahasa Malaysia's shared roots, it launched with full department coverage from day one rather than starting from a handful of pages.

What's live

Bahasa Indonesia now has 20 pages covering all 8 departments — Plan, Stay, Places, Do, Food, Culture, News and About — reachable via the language switcher or directly at totallykl.com/id. That's the same launch scope it took Malay and Chinese two rounds to reach.

Why Indonesian moved faster

Bahasa Indonesia and Bahasa Malaysia share enough common vocabulary and structure that translating from one to the other — while still writing genuine, natural Indonesian rather than a word-for-word copy — was considerably faster than translating fresh from English. It's a useful lesson for the roadmap: language pairs with linguistic overlap (Indonesian/Malay, and eventually perhaps Tagalog with its heavy loanword influence) are worth sequencing near each other.

The four-language site, in numbers

  • English: 72 pages
  • Malay: 20 pages
  • Chinese: 20 pages
  • Indonesian: 20 pages

That's 132 pages total. See the full update log for what's next.
