Free viewpoints
- KLCC Park — the classic reflection shot of the towers, free, and best around sunset
- Merdeka 118 vicinity — the area around Malaysia's newest supertall skyscraper offers striking street-level views of the current tallest building in Southeast Asia
- Titiwangsa Lake Gardens — a quieter, more local spot with a distant skyline view across the water
Paid observation decks
The Petronas Towers Skybridge/observation deck and the KL Tower Sky Deck are the two dedicated paid viewpoints, each with a different angle on the city — see our separate guides to Petronas Towers and KL Tower for the details on each.
Rooftop bars
KL has a genuinely good rooftop bar scene, concentrated around the Bukit Bintang and KLCC hotel towers. Many operate a smart-casual dress code and a minimum spend on weekend evenings, so it's worth checking a venue's policy before heading up, especially if you're coming straight from a day of sightseeing in shorts and sandals.
Arriving for a rooftop bar around sunset rather than after dark gets you both the daylight-to-night transition and a better chance at a table before it fills up.
